Is it just dum luck or is a rear end crash in my 1999 jetta at 45-55 miles per hour need to hurt this much?

I just pulled up to my driveway at 7:00 a.m. after working 3rd shift and seen a garbage can lid in my drive way, I almost came to a stop while trying to miss it as I was turning in,I never saw the car behide me as I was focused on the lid.As soon as my front tire touched the gravel I was hit so hard that my body flew into the side of the car and I was like laying in the back seat but in my seat yet. My car was spun and totaled and I was in so much pain.I was in the ditch and spun a 180 . I was taked to the hospital but the released . I told the doctor in the emergency room that I was in pain but it seemed like they thought I was faking or something. The doctor even went as far as to say that I could go to work tonight.It has been a night mare ever since I told every one that my shoulder felt like my arm was falling of my whole body felt like a walking bag of bones.I had whiplash a broken nose the ligamints in my hips were damaged.Its 10 mo. later surgery on arm sucked .Is this a claim
