Why people think CD-R's are a dead technology?

I think you are getting mixed up with RWs. CD-Rs and DVD-Rs won't be going away anytime soon. While in the modern consumer market they may not be used that much anymore, in the enterprise world i see people using these all the time. Especially when there are places where USBs are disabled. DVD-R and DVD+R are the same with different standards. Thats why you will see most drives that support both. But yes it will be a while, probably at least another 10 years. I don't even see blu-ray getting popular anytime soon either as its just too expensive. Floppies are just now getting the axe and its been a long time coming.
